A few months ago, we had the unique privilege of filming at San Ysidro Ranch in California—one of Sir Winston Churchill’s favourite retreats. Among the highlights was capturing the very cottage where Churchill once stayed, steeped in history and charm. Churchill’s Final Journey: A Restored Icon of British History
In January 1965, following a state funeral at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Sir Winston Churchill’s coffin was transported by train from London to Handborough, Oxfordshire, en route to his final resting place in Bladon. The train comprised several notable carriages, including the Southern Railway luggage van No. 2464, which bore his coffin, and the Pullman carriage Lydia, which carried his family. After decades abroad and in storage, these historic vehicles have been meticulously restored. The luggage van No. 2464, once used for everyday goods, was transformed for Churchill’s funeral and has now been returned to its former glory.
