This week, our team is on location at the iconic San Ysidro Ranch, a Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) member, capturing its unique charm for an exciting new brand film. While the finished piece is still in the works, we wanted to offer a sneak peek into our creative process. These clips, taken on an iPhone in portrait mode, were shot for our social media channels and offer a behind-the-scenes look at how we’re bringing the San Ysidro Ranch story to life.
A Glimpse into the Shoot
From start to finish, this production is about showcasing the luxury experience and stunning natural beauty that San Ysidro Ranch is known for. To achieve this, we’ve worked with a cast of five models in various settings, capturing moments of relaxation, elegance, and vibrancy across the property.

- Poolside Drone Action: One of the highlights is a smooth, low-swooping drone shot over the pool, adding dynamic movement that highlights the beautiful California setting. - Golden Hour Close-ups: Using natural lighting at the perfect time of day, we moved to capture close-up shots that focus on the finer details. The delicate combination of light and shadow creates a mood of refined luxury.
- Speakeasy Vibes: As the evening drew in, we switched up the atmosphere, filming at the new speakeasy bar. This part of the shoot brought a moody, intimate vibe to the production, showcasing the Ranch’s hidden gem. LED lights were used strategically to highlight the bar’s unique decor and cozy ambiance, adding a cinematic touch.
High-Tech Gear for Cinematic Perfection
We’re all about combining creativity with the latest technology to produce hotel brand films that wow. In this shoot, we worked with our trusty Ronin 4D camera, both with and without the flex accessory, depending on the type of shot we needed. Paired with prime cinematic lenses, the Ronin 4D allows us to capture incredibly sharp and immersive footage, giving the viewer a real sense of the Ranch’s allure.
Our lighting setup featured LED lights to ensure every frame was perfectly lit. These lights helped us balance the natural light with the desired ambiance, especially in more intimate settings like the speakeasy.
